Keeping Kids Fed in a Crisis: COVID-19
JLGI jumps into action:
When the COVID-19 crisis emerged and it became apparent that our schools would be closing, JLGI reallocated resources from events and programs that were cancelled due to the pandemic to serve our most vulnerable members of our community, our children. Many of our children rely on the breakfast and lunch they receive at schools and the bags of food their receive through Blessings in a Backpack and Backpack Buddies programs at school to ensure that they have full bellies and clear heads to learn. JLGI rushed to send home 500 bags of food the day schools closed through our partnership with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Southeast Georgia. We have continued to pack and distribute bags each week, but the need has grown. We are now packing 1000 bags per week, and the need continues to grow. We need your financial support to be able to continue this emergency program to rise and meet the needs of our children.
